2. The essentials

  • This website uses no analytics or tracking tools.
  • The only cookie is set when you switch the language yourself: dq_lang stores "de" or "en" for one year so we show the language you chose (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG).
  • Fonts, images, videos and downloads are loaded from our own server. No third-party content is embedded.
  • We only process personal data where it is technically necessary, where you contact us, or where you create a game account.

3. Hosting and server data

The website, the launcher downloads and the game servers run on a server operated by netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany, under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

When you open the website or download the launcher, the web server processes technically necessary data: your IP address, date and time, the requested page or file, the amount of data transferred, and your browser and operating system. This is required to deliver the content and to keep the service secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The data is only processed for the duration of the connection; we do not keep an access log. Your browser's language setting is used to show you the matching language.

4. Server status and patch notes

Server status and patch notes are fetched by our web server from the game server and passed on to your browser. Your browser only connects to this website. No data about you is shared with third parties.

5. Game account (launcher and game)

To play DEAD QUIET you create an account in the launcher. We store:

  • your e-mail address and your password (only as a salted scrypt hash, never in plain text),
  • your operator name, friend code, friends and friend requests,
  • your save game and statistics (level, raids, inventory and similar),
  • account status (e.g. waiting for approval), time of registration and last login, the IP address used to register,
  • sessions with a hashed device ID, which binds your login and game downloads to your PC.

We use this data to provide your account, approve alpha access, run online play and protect the game against abuse and unauthorised copies (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). It is stored on our server in Germany. You can delete your account at any time in the launcher ("Delete account"); this removes the account, save game, friends and sessions. Older device-based profiles from before accounts were introduced (up to build 12) may still contain a player name and save game; we delete them on request.

6. Discord link

We link to our Discord server. This is a plain link, not embedded content: only when you click it are you taken to Discord (Discord Inc., USA), whose privacy policy then applies.

7. Contact by e-mail

If you e-mail us, we process your address and the information in your message to answer it (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR) and delete it once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention obligations apply.

8. Your rights

Within the statutory limits you have the right to:

  • access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
